Realismus versus Realitaat
Museum of Young Art, Vienna, April – May 2006
This is an exhibition about the gap existing between socialist realities of the 1950s’Romania and the socialist realist art of the same period. Paintings and statues from the hidden stores of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, were exhibited close to domestic settings where post-war realities and the fear for imprisonments and deportations permeated people’s lives. The exhibition was organised by a team of researchers and curators from the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, led by art historian Ioana Popescu. As part of this team I helped with the organisation and the curation of the exhibition, coordination of a team of volunteers and the organisation of a series of events. The exhibition was sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna.
